All About the Rum

I don't know about you but I can't wait for the warm summer days to roll around. To help me feel like there is some summer around the corner I am going to write about some fantastic rum drinks.

This week I am going to focus on a growing trend, flavoured rum. Bacardi I think has done wonders with this catagory, and certianly has the widest selection.

Bacardi flavoured rums are different from all others becuase they are of a higher alcohol content namely, 35%.

They have a great flavour with a natural nose which makes it great for simulating a tropical drink on the beach.

Here are a few of my favorites....I can almost feel the sand on my feet.

Tampico Trauma

1.5 oz Bacardi Razz
2 oz Mango juice
3 oz Passion fruit juice
Splash of pomegrante juice

Sunny Daze

1.5 oz Bacardi O
1 tsp. Sugar
1 half lime
5 mint leaves
3 oz Soda water
Pulverize the lime and sugar. Pour liquids to cover and shred mint leaves to top.

Vanilla Coco

1 oz Bacardi Vanila
.5 oz Bacardi Coco
3 oz Pineapple juice
1 oz Passion fruit juice
Build over ice and serve with a cherry.
