I read recently that beer has many positive effects on older people. Can you shed any light on this?

Thanks for your question, Margaret. It's true and comforting to know that we can all look forward to enjoying beer in out ‘golden years'. There is evidence that beer consumption in moderation can be beneficial to the elderly. Here are the facts. Beer aids in blood vessel dilation, promotes urination and assists sleep. Because of its relatively low alcohol content, beer has a relaxing effect on the body. Some nursing homes have even initiated on premise "senior happy hours". Cheers!

Allen knows his subject matter well. As an ad agency executive for over 25 years, he developed some of the Canadian beer industry's most memorable campaigns. He was a founding partner in the Algonquin Brewing Company, one of the country's first generation microbreweries.
